5 Things I Learned About Sinclair

sinclairToday, I had the honor of attending a Community Leaders Luncheon at Sinclair Community College in Dayton.  I am not sure how I finagled my way into getting invited, but hey, no complaints.  Dr. Johnson, President of Sinclair, did most of the speaking.  As always he was very passionate about Sinclair, and he did a great job of providing information and engaging the audience in discussion.  I saw a lot of familiar faces at the event, and learned some interesting facts about Sinclair.  Here are a few of the take-aways I wanted to share:

  1. Fall enrollment at Sinclair is at 25,500 students, a record high.
  2. This year, over 40,000 students will take courses at Sinclair – that is a staggering number.
  3. $114 million in federal and state money is brought to Dayton through Sinclair.
  4. Sinclair plans to invest between 70 and 80 million in its downtown campus in the next 5 years.
  5. Sinclair’s Dayton campus is one of the largest community college campuses in the world.

I continue to be impressed by the people of Sinclair.  They serve a very vital role in our community, developing tomorrow’s workforce and offering quality education at a very affordable rate (same as 1982 if you adjust for inflation).  I suggested to Dr. Johnson that they upload the presentation to slideshares.  If they do, I will make sure to link to it.  I want to thank Dr. Johnson for inviting me to the event today and for all the hard work he and everyone at Sinclair does to educate people and strengthen our community.
