Do you consider yourself a Target aficionado? Do you regularly peruse the fluorescent lit aisles of the big box retailer that made big box retail cool? My wife definitely falls into this category — perhaps even bordering on Target ninja or even guru. She seems to intuitively know how to get the best deals on the things we need — never paying full price for kids clothes, toys, lawn tools, soda, you name it. It is quite amazing. Thanks to her observation of the huge differences in price , we have abandoned buying non-perishable items from the grocery, opting instead to save big bucks by buying the stuff in cans, containers, bags, and boxes all at Target. She will scope out things for our kids weeks in advance of purchasing them — never paying full price and saving us a lot of money. Well, versed as she is in Target knowledge, there is always more to learn. So for her and other Target shoppers out there, I urge you to check out this outstanding post from a site called WiseBread about the way that Target prices and discounts merchandise. This may prove enormously valuable if you are looking for ways to spend a little less on the things you need. Here is an excerpt from the post outlining the weekly discount schedule for merchandise:
Monday - Electronics, Kids Clothing and Stationary (Cards, GiftWrap, etc.)
Tuesday — Domestics, Women’s Clothing, Pets and Market (food items)
Wednesday — Men’s Clothing, Toys, Lawn & Garden, Health and Beauty items
Thursday — House Wares, Lingerie, Sporting Goods, Shoes, Music / Movies, Books, Decor and Luggage
Friday - Auto, Cosmetics, Hardware, and Jewelry
From the looks of this we may need to change grocery day. This is just a mere portion of the information outlined in the post. Take a look for your self. Thanks to WiseBread for saving me some dough, and thanks to Lifehacker for pointing me to the site. Now if I could just get a schedule of the time when they are not blocking the aisles by restocking the shelves in the middle of the day. I will save that rant for another day.

Yes David, I agree about Target. Whereas I do not shop there regularly, one has to keep looking and snag the deals periodically.
Once, I picked up a three pack of Colgate Toothpaste, bundled for $ 6 and change.… This special was out on the the end cap of the aisle. Right around the corner were indivudual tubes of the exact same toothpaste was $ 3.97 EACH!
A No brainer decision on my part and I always have the room in the medicine cabinet for some FREE tootpaste!

As I browsed your blog today, my radar was immediately drawn to the Target symbol and I had to read what you had to say about my shopping mecca. I’m not sure I’m happy about the fact that you’ve given away secrets that your wife and I have spent countless shopping hours discovering. There is nothing more satisfying than finding the red sticker on something you want, need, or didn’t know that you wanted or needed.
Besides the satifaction of the Target shopping experience, as I browse the aisles, I know that I’m very likely to run into a member of the Bowman family.
Oh how right you are Cara. The big question is not if we will be headed to Target, but rather which one will we are headed to. We live by the little red stickers. See you soon…probably at Target.
