David,

Great to see a converastion starting to emerge about how to leverage networks.

I've been teaching this in my high-level business development programs for the last 5 years.

When I found LinkedIn, it was an instant love affair. Not only can I put a technological back bone underneath one of my most valuable assest - my network - but I've got a search engine to seek out new channel partners, referral partners, affiliates, and experts, etc. Not to mention the ability to look into my markets and find out what they are involved in.

I'm of the opinion that Social Networking Software is to business relationships in real life what Google is to information on the internet. We're just at the beginning of this.

My interest is getting people trained to understand this platform and it's implications to their business life.

We have LinkedIn Training availabe that explains this. Check out www.network2networth.com/linkedintraining.htm.

Keep writing. Articles like this will begin to really open up the dialogue and unleash the power of LinkedIn in our networks!

Biggest gripe: no one fills out their complete v-card on Linkedin. All I end up with is a name and a e-mail.
I'm also not a fan of the "premium content" model- they need to find another way to raise revenue- but, it's one business site I think everyone should at least have their basics on.
