Ready for Anything — Week 3

KNOWING YOUR COMMITMENTS CREATES BETTER CHOICES OF NEW ONES.

Life is often painted as a struggle between those who crave freedom and those who crave structure. There is a need for both, and they can actually feed each other. Ideally time management involves two concepts: concentration and cooperation.  With a constant barrage of e-mails, phone calls, and other interruptions, concentration can be almost impossible at times.  I find myself often having to step back and “focus” on what I am really trying to accomplish.  That is where cooperation comes into play.  Many of the interruptions in life demand action.  They will force you to shift your concentration.  Recognizing how and when to shift your attention, and then doing it completely can lead to amazing results.  It is a balancing act, and sometimes we fall off the high-wire.  Fortunately  we can usually get up, dust ourselves off, and move forward.  Before you climb back up on the high-wire, take the time to review your commitments.  Get a grasp on what your obligations are, and how much freedom you have available.  Learn not to wait until after you hit the ground to determine your next step.  Instead regularly review, and then focus on the next action that you need to accomplish to move forward.  Concentrate, Cooperate, & Balance.
