I have not seen the real sugar Pepsi or Dew on local store shelves yet. I have seen the Snapple. They are running ads for it now too. You are safe with the Mexican coke. I can't speak for "other" varieties.

I tend to agree that HFCS is very insidious.

Have you seen any of this Pepsi or Mountain Dew in southwestern Ohio? I'd like to try some of that. As far as the other soft drinks are concerned, I'd probably rather try some of the Mexican Coke than the stuff from Colombia, if you know what I mean. ;-P

Funny how things come back around in fashion. Who would have thought that people would market products as containing sugar. It's interesting to think what seemingly harmless food, drink or activity we have now will be completely taboo to our kids.

You should see the movie King Corn. The HFCS in the food chain just may be a bigger problem than you think.

Since we are going back to the old days. Let's go ahead and release Coke with cocaine, gum loaded with sugar, cars with no seatbelts and guns with no safety. All kidding aside lets allow Pepsi to have their fun with marketing. Heck Budwieser even has a 16oz beer in a green can for St. Patricks Day. It's all about the marketing.....

I've introduced my children to soft drinks that replace HFCS with sugar (cokes from Mexico, specialty drinks like Cheerwine, etc.). From a taste perspective and from a 'cool' factor, these drinks are a home run. They harken back to my childhood - cold glass bottles of sugary goodness!

I'm all for it and hope to see more opportunities for us to enjoy sugary goodness!

Reminds me of the switch many people made (like myself) from those tubs of soft margarine back to stick butter when the downside of margarine was released. There are so many great products developed that are touted as improving our lives - only to find out a decade later that the opposite is true. For 100's of years sugar in moderation never caused anyone any harm!

It will be interesting to see if the "head" decision of just avoid soft drinks entirely because of weight and diabetes will lost to the "heart" decision of delicious sugary goodness. Based on the decision making track record of the target demographic, I am thinking about investing in Novo Nordisk and Coke.

Interesting, Dave. Remember, lots of us boomers and even x-ers are now having to think about weight and diabetes...ah, but the nostalgia of "I'd like to teach the world to sing, in perfect harmony" beckons. And Diet Coke (even with lime) isn't quite the same.
