Voices — Episode 11: Peter Shankman

One of my favorite peo­ple to fol­low on the web is PR Guru, Peter Shankman.  Whether he is jump­ing out of air­planes, con­struct­ing an in-home social media bat­tle sta­tion, or jet­ting from city to city, Peter is always up to some­thing inter­est­ing.  He is a pio­neer in the use of social media and the founder of one of the most use­ful sites on the web — HelpAReporter.com .  Peter was sched­uled to come to Day­ton, Ohio to speak to the Greater Day­ton Adver­tis­ing Asso­ci­a­tion on April 2, 2009, but the event was can­celled due to some last minute complications.

I thought that per­haps the next best thing to actu­ally hav­ing Peter here in Day­ton to speak, was to have him speak to peo­ple via pod­cast.  He was kind enough to spend some time chat­ting with me and shar­ing his thoughts on a vari­ety of top­ics includ­ing his impres­sions of Day­ton, Ohio, his newly con­structed Social Media Mon­i­tor­ing Cen­ter, HARO, writ­ing a book, Twit­ter, Cus­tomer Ser­vice, the future of jour­nal­ism and more — all in under 14 minutes.
