Hello! My name is David E. Bowman…
My Job:
As President of The Ohlmann Group, my job is to use my knowledge of business strategy, my passion for creative expression, and my skills of communication to help people achieve the remarkable. I believe that Marketing is both art and science – using the uniquely human gifts of creativity and analytical thinking to deliver something of value to our world. Great marketing is about examining society, understanding the dynamic wants and needs of human beings, gauging strengths and weaknesses, consistently building trust, and crafting stories that resonate deep within people’s hearts and minds. Life is way too short. I am fortunate to be able to earn a living doing something I enjoy so much.
My Background:
I was born in Dayton, Ohio, and I grew up in nearby Springfield. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Wright State University and my MBA with a concentration in Marketing from The University of Dayton. My professional career has taken me to small firms like Lucrum, Hafenbrack Marketing, and Ohio Financial Group and large corporations such as Cintas, Relizon, and Reynolds & Reynolds, where I developed and executed sales and marketing strategies for business growth. I now use that experience to help my clients at The Ohlmann Group to create the future. I’ve been honored to win multiple Mercury awards for excellent client service and The Silver Medal for Lifetime Achievement from AAF Dayton and I am proud to work for The Ohlmann Group, winner of the 2012 BBB Eclipse Integrity Award and a repeated winner of The Dayton Business Journal’s Best Places to work award. I also enjoy presenting and public speaking – having addressed thousands of people at numerous institutions and organizations on topics such as leadership, creativity, business, public education, health care, and marketing.
My Community:
I love Ohio. Here in Dayton, I am surrounded by family, friends, and friendly strangers – all of whose kindness and generosity never ceases to amaze me. The people of this community have given and continue to give me so much, and everyday I try to use my talents to give something back. I have served as an instructor at The School of Advertising Art, where I taught a course in Marketing, and I frequently guest lecture at local colleges, universities, and educational institutions. I am active member of many professional, philanthropic and community organizations, including serving on the board of the American Advertising Federation’s Dayton Chapter and Crayons to Classrooms and chairing the Breakfast Briefing Committee of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce. I’ve also served on the board of United Rehabilitation Services of Greater Dayton and The Epilepsy Foundation of Western Ohio and I am honored to have been named as one of the Dayton Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 for 2011. I love Dayton and the surrounding region. It is quite simply one of the best places on earth to live, work, and play.
My Inspiration:
By far, the most important part of my life is my family, whom I love with all my being. They make life meaningful, inspire me to be a better man, and support me with their unending encouragement and undying love. I wake up every day with a smile on my face that is a mile wide – they are why. I strive to make them proud with my words and deeds. Nothing matters more to me.
